Meet The Camon Team

  • Catherine

    (she/her)

    SHOP MANAGER

Hi. I am Cath, a proud Scot who has lived all over the world and now lives in a small village called Treziers, near Camon, in the South of France. We bought our house in 1992, moved back and forth, and are now here permanently as part of the community – my village job is to look after the fountain and flowers in the square! Our dream was always to live here, and waking each day to the view of the Pyrenees still feels like a privilege.

Over the last 10 years, I have travelled a lot, mostly in Southeast Asia. Last winter, I lived in an ashram in India for 10 weeks. I spent a semester on an exchange programme in the UK and Belgium, and I volunteered to teach English in a primary school and kindergarten in Thailand. I also taught yoga on a tiny island in Indonesia.

My friends would describe me as open-minded, caring and funny. I love being outside, moving around and meeting new people.

In my free time I like to cook vegetarian meals, read, draw, do acro yoga or go gravel biking (my plan is to bikeback part of the way to the Château from Vienna).

I can't wait to meet all the wonderful women coming to Camp Château this season!

    Weaving

We live in Régat, a small village near Camon, where we have run our basketry workshop, Lolosier, since 2009. We grow much of our raw material (wicker) in an environmentally friendly way (no chemical inputs, no pesticides, harvested by hand). Our work is rooted in traditional basketry skills, and we take pleasure in creating original pieces that combine aesthetics with practicality. Through our workshops, we enjoy passing on and sharing the various weaving techniques using different plant fibres.

  • Victor

    (he/him)

    SOUS CHEF

Reborn as a cook, I was originally tackling ecological issues in urban planning, agriculture and food policies before working for French tv for some (too many?) years. In love with food and wine, I became a food critic at that same time, and slowly but surely decided to get myself in the kitchen. To me food is highly political, and is the best way to draw a link between people and empower them. Devoted to taste, I try to explore it in various ways in order to honor the dish I'm cooking. Born and raised in the Quercy region I am glad to come back to a land I'm so attached to, to work in the glorious environment of Camp Chateau!
