Sleeping at Camon: everything you need to know

Here is the full picture, answered simply.

We received very late notice from the French historical monuments authority that we can only have 15 guests sleeping overnight in the main château building this summer. We know, not what any of us expected.

Here is what we want you to know straight away: Camp Château at Camon is happening, the magic is intact, and we have built a plan we are genuinely excited about. This FAQ covers everything.

Your questions, answered

Wait… does this mean I might not sleep in the château?

Possibly, yes… but hear us out. We have created two beautiful on-site options and one wonderful off-site option, and no matter where you sleep, your days at Camp Château are identical. Every camper shares the same electives, meals, grounds, and community from morning to night.

Here is the full picture for sleeping arrangements:

1. Château bunks: the main building, just as you imagined. Up to 15 guests.

2. The Cottage: a historic gatehouse right inside the château gates, steps from the main door. Up to 15 campers across 3 bunks. Is home to our usual accessible bedroom and classroom, and comes with a cottage badge!

3. Domaine de la Besse cabins: a 4-star campground 4 minutes away (shuttle every morning and evening). Idyllic farm setting, mountain views, and a €250 thank-you discount on your booking, plus an extra cool badge.

• Will the programme itself change at all?

  Not one bit. Electives, meals, evening apero, connecting with incredible women, exploring the grounds of L'Abbaye-Château de Camon… all of it is exactly as planned! The Camp Château experience is defined by its community and programme, and that is completely unchanged.

• How will you decide who sleeps where?

  We will fill the château and cottage first, then use the cabins as needed. Assignments are made randomly within those groups, but bunk groups stay together as long as preferences are aligned.

  We surveyed all campers to capture preferences. If you have a strong preference to sleep on-site, we have noted it. If on-site cannot be guaranteed and that is a dealbreaker for you, we have options for you too (see survey).

• If I'm assigned to a cabin off-site, what happens during the day?

  You will be assigned a personal en-suite day-bunk room inside the château! It is yours to use for napping, showering, gathering, getting ready for apero, stashing your swimsuit, or anything else your heart desires. You are fully part of château life from breakfast to bedtime shuttle!

• I really want to guarantee I sleep in the château. What are my options?

  We do have availability in Béduer 2026/2027 and Camon 2027 though both are limited. If you would like to move your booking, here is how:

  1. Go to our reservations page and book your preferred session using the coupon code CAMONTRANSFER — this secures your new session immediately at no cost.
     
     (Founding members: you also have the option to move to 2027 and bring 1 friend. If you are booking for yourself and that one guest for a camper week in Camon or Béduer 2027, use the code FOUNDERBUDDY at checkout instead.)

  2. Use the same email address you used for your original booking — only then can we confirm your transfer.

  3. We will transfer any payments made for your Camon session over to the new booking, and you will receive an email confirming the transfer is complete and any balance due.

  4. If you do not find availability that works for you, please return to the form to request a refund or to continue with your original booking.

• I booked as part of a group. How does this work for us?

  Bunk groups stay together as long as everyone in the group shares the same preference. If you are the group captain, your selected preferences were applied to your whole group in the survey, unless you specified otherwise.

  If you are the primary booker, please make sure you have shared the accommodation update email with everyone in your group, you were the only person in your group who received it directly.

• I'm a Camon founding member, do I have extra options?

  You do! As a founding member, you have the option to move to 2027 and bring 1 friend at no extra cost. Simply book a camper week in Camon or Béduer 2027 using the code FOUNDERBUDDY at checkout.

  Be sure to use the same email from your original booking so we can confirm the transfer and carry over your payments. Any questions? Email camon@campchateau.com and we will take care of you.

• Can I just get a full refund?

  Absolutely, yes. If you would prefer a full refund, any payments made will be returned to your original payment method within 5–10 business days. Please indicate this preference on the accommodation survery or by emailing us.

  We are sad to see you go, but happy to know you are choosing what feels right for you. We hope to see you at a future Camp Château.
