We know packing can be difficult. From comfy travel clothes to a three-course dinner in a château, it can be hard to save room and pack smart. Here are tips and tricks to help you along your journey — including what real campers say they wish they’d packed (or left at home).
👉 Remember: you’ll be carrying your suitcase up 1–2 flights of stairs. There are no elevators, and the biggest mistake campers make is overpacking.
Each bunk has a spot to hang your beautiful clothes in either a wardrobe, closet, or dressing room. There are also bins beneath each bed for additional storage.

3 versatile dresses or outfits (rewearable, layerable)
1 pair of sneakers + 1 pair of slip-on shoes

Scarf or shawl (doubles as accessory + warmth)

If you are staying in Camon, you'll be in a more mountainous climate so you might like to bring layers to keep warm in evenings.

1 pair of sneakers (for hikes/foraging) + 1 slip-on
Jeans or light pants for caves excursion
Warm jacket (jean jacket or compact puffer)
Scarf, warm socks, sweater
Flip flops for showers
Swimsuit (the pool is still open and there may be a sauna!)
Light raincoat & shoes that can get muddy

Flashlight for midnight bathroom runs

Excursions vary by location and season buy may include horseback riding, a trip to the market, and kayaking or caves!
Béduer Excursion-Specific Musts
Horseback riding: Closed-toe shoes, long pants or leggings
Kayaking (summer): Shorts, shirt you don’t mind getting wet, sandals with heel strap
Pech Merle caves (spring & autumn): Clothes/shoes you don’t mind getting wet, light layer and comfortable shoes (walking and it gets cool down there)
Market day: Fanny pack or purse (you will be provided with your own châ-tote upon arrival!) Some vendors only take cash, ATMs are available
Camon Excursion-Specific Musts
Horseback riding: Closed-toe shoes
Pédalo at the lake (summer): Swimsuit, shorts, shirt you don’t mind getting wet, sandals with heel strap, and plenty of sun protection
Lake trip (summer): Comfy shoes for walking, clothes for swimming, sun protection
Goat farm and cheese tasting (summer): Sneakers, and outdoor clothes you won't mind getting messy
Market day: Fanny pack or purse (you will be provided with your own châ-tote upon arrival!)
Labouïche subterranean river (autumn): Clothes/shoes you don’t mind getting wet, jumper/sweater as it can be very chilly
We even provide Turkish beach towels for lounging by the pool or sauna.
Evenings at the Château
Evenings aren’t formal, but most campers enjoy a sundress or outfit that feels special. This is your chance to twirl down the medieval spiral staircase or dance on the lawn to live music! Aperos and dinners are social and relaxed, and you’ll take a group photo one night — so definitely bring one outfit you love.
Every style is welcome.
